"Hell is Complete Separation From God"

It's a common theme in evangelism. In fact, I have a huge box of hundreds of sample gospel tracts sitting here next to me, many of which give warnings of total separation from God. Part of the reason for this may be that the modern church assumes that anything which doesn't seem very loving on the other side of eternity must be happening at a distance from a God. This is the second and final post in my short series on things that might surprise you about hell. In this post we'll talk about where God is during eternal punishment.

This 3 minute RC Sproul audio clip might be a surprise to anyone who thought that the biggest problem for someone in hell would probably end up being the devil and all of the demons in this Jack Chick evangelism tract:

Before you listen to this clip, ask yourself - when someone is "saved", what is it that they are saved FROM? Also, what does it mean for God to be omnipresent?

This clip comes from the Eternal Punishment teaching in the series entitled Foundations: An Overview of Systematic Theology. I highly recommend this entire teaching, it will cost you two dollars for the full download. There is no charge for the audio clip below however.
