Today's Denial of Original Sin. Is Man Dead in Sin?

Martin Luther believed that it was the necessary precursor to preaching the Cross, and yet it's a belief that's been abandoned by much of today's church.
To demonstrate this, here is an audio clip containing the actual responses that Christian leaders gave to this question: "What do you do with Paul when he says in Romans 3 that noone does good, no not even one, noone seeks after God?" Many of their answers were intriguing, some were even surprised that this passage was in the bible.

Others in these man-on-the-street interviews simply thought that Paul was referring to some kind of "spiritual bad hair day" in which we all might occasionally sin; they failed to acknowledge the depth of man's sinfulness.

Still others flat-out disagreed with the Apostle, seemingly with an attitude of: "Paul didn't know what he was talking about when he described human nature, but I do". It's a remarkable denial from bible thumping evangelical America.

This 15 minute audio clip comes from an early 2006 White Horse Inn program. In response to these interviews, Michael Horton remarks:

We're in a phase of church history where evangelicalism is a carrier of the Pelagian virus. Diedrich Bonhoeffer called American Protestantism: "Protestantism without the Reformation".

What does all of this mean for today's "Seeker" churches? Are the unregenerate really seeking God, or is it instead true that God is the one who seeks? As you'll hear in this audio clip, failure to put proper emphasis on this doctrine results in the Gospel seeming "ho hum" to unbelievers.
